Georgia Jones digs through ‘Ruins’ in her melancholically cold debut pop track

Contrasting the warm climate that she hails from, the 23-year-old Australian singer-songwriter, Georgia Jones, unleashed a sombrely cold serenade with her debut single, Ruins.

With a penchant for poetry and influences from Taylor Swift, Lorde, Bon Ivor and Billie Eilish, Georgia Jones found her signature somewhere in between her inspirational artists. From the bruisingly raw lyricism of Eilish, the tender melodicism of Bon Ivor and the stylishly melancholic edge of Lorde, Ruins serves as a candidly contemporary introduction to the artist, who frequently traverses fear as the prevalent theme in her music. Considering that there’s little else but fear in the atmosphere these days, you would struggle to find a more timely release.

As far as pop debuts go, Georgia Jones left nothing to be desired – apart from the sophomore single.

Ruins was officially released on August 12th; stream it on Spotify.

Unravel with a.patrick’s consoling modern masterpiece, fray

From the instant you hit play on the Minneapolis vocalist, pianist and producer, a.patrick’s, latest single, fray, your senses surrender to the ethereal quiescence that ensues through this modern masterpiece.

His artful neo-classic style is enough to bring tears to the surface as his accordant harmonies echo above his distinguished piano melodies that carry little, if any, assimilation. The way he leaves himself exposed through his lyrics and gentle vocal presence is enough to feel you feeling just as emotionally naked.

As someone who frequently finds themselves drawn to melancholia in music, I can earnestly say that you’d struggle to find another soundscape as captivating and consoling in equal measure as this beautifully scorned lullaby.

Fray is now available to stream on Spotify.

Jo’ & Eliah – Once Again: Chillingly Kitsch Indie

Occasionally, you stumble across music that gives you goose bumps, Once Again is the chilling new single by Jo’ & Eliah that does just that. Words can’t quite capture just how succinctly the intrinsic melodies hit you throughout the regrettably short duration of this track. If the sound wasn’t enough, I can’t quite remember the last time I heard lyrics that were so poetic and flowed with such veracity. Jo’ & Eliah are two solo artists that originally joined forces back in 2016, together, the underground artists are on a mission to create deeper and more resonant tracks than what is churned out by the media. So, I for one would like to congratulate them for achieving their goal in just one anthem of a single. All it took was one track from the cute and folky dulcet indie collective to win me over.

I’m already in bitter sweet anticipation for the album. So, if you’re a fan of Bicycles in Amsterdam, Bob Dylan, & Bon Ivor, there is no better way to kick of your 2018 play list than with this debut track.
