Even the track title to Summerlyn Powers latest single “90% of Someone” is sobering. So, you can imagine the brevity behind the Folk Singer Songwriter’s quaintly concordant single.
The narrative style of the lyrics will have you captivated from the first line. 90% of Someone shares a sentiment of the person we love no longer giving all of themselves anymore. I’m sure that pretty much every listener will be able to find resonance with the lyricism, it is made all too easy with the Alabama, US-based artist’s unflinchingly sonorous vocal style.
With a melodic approach usually found with much older artists, Summerlyn has completely rejected the usual fragile vocal approach which a lot of younger female singer songwriters are all too keen to adopt. Instead, Summerlyn will win you over with her commandingly soulful vocal capacity which is matched with the poignancy of her lyrics.
