sP certainly didn’t make it easy to capture the energy in their prodigally quintessential sound. Upon hearing their single “Terra Earth” from their latest 2018 EP “These Are Not Wars” I was captivated in every intricately seamless progression, each verse, each use of spatial effect. Naturally, a sound so transcendentally arresting is going to leave you a little lost for words.
But the first thing you should probably know is that to find a similar concordantly soft sound would be like looking for a needle in a haystack. With elements of Post-Punk, Alt Rock and Pop with a Folkish sentimentality the track unfolds from the delicate prelude into a progressive extended track. As instrumentally sublime as Terra Earth is, the lyricism is what hits the hardest.
As the world crumbles, sP are there to serve us aural salvation from the disparity we see piling around us. The intellectually informed narrative of Terra Earth won’t fail to leave you hooked in the track and eager to devour the rest of their EP.
