Sam McIntire spills viscerally caustic Funk-driven Blues onto the airwaves with their debut “Lately”

Up and coming artist Sam McIntire has made their bass-driven Indie Blues Pop debut with the melodiously smooth track “Lately”.

Instead of assimilating what’s on the airwaves a thousand times over, Sam McIntire layered his debut single with enough funk and groove to give the track a nostalgic 70s vibe. That 70s sound may have been borrowed plenty of times before, but it’s safe to say that Sam McIntire has made a distinctive contribution to contemporary Blues with Lately.

While most artists try and aim for the most poised and demure performances possible, Sam McIntire’s vocals are haunting enough to make Jack White’s music sound positively restrained. The way Lately unfolds lets the filter slip away from the vocals and allows the true artistic expression to bite through the soundscape.
