Ruchira Panda – Bin Sawan: Arrestive Melodic Catharsis

“Bin Sawan” is just one of the hauntingly arrestive Indian Classical singles to feature on up and coming artist Ruchira Panda’s latest EP “Crossing Over”.

While many people may be slightly daunted by the prospect of hitting play on a 10-minute long track, you’ll soon see that the extended duration is more than justified. Each seamless progression is completely unpredictable and serves to pull you further into the soundscape. It’s safe to say I wasn’t expecting a guitar riff solo midway through the track.

You won’t hear many Indian Classical tracks on Radio 2, yet, Ruchira Panda’s single proves exactly why there should be plenty more. Because if you’re looking for arrestive melodic catharsis, it is easily found within this compelling anachronistic soundscape.
