Women have been far too apologetic for far too long, and it tracks such as “Not Sorry, Oh Well” by up and coming singer-songwriter Raye Nicole which sticks an aural flag in society to mark the progress we’ve made. Female artists constantly get called “unapologetically fierce” or some variation on the term, but what did female artists have to be sorry about in the first place?!
Aside from the effortlessly powerful narrative behind Not Sorry, Oh Well, the LA-based artist uses her ethereally raw vocal talent to lay down the lyrics in the Alt Pop Rock track over a bed of stylistically orchestrated Rock instrumentals. As the track progresses, you come to appreciate the sardonic playfulness wrapped up in the radio-ready soundscape along with Raye Nicole’s experimental creativity which sets her apart with absolute distinction.
