Swag; you’ve either got it or you don’t and Promiss El Fuego is definitely amongst the former, which is just one of the reasons he stands out so viscerally against other contemporary artists on the scene to date. As soon as you hit play to his latest anthemically pumped, high-vibe Hip Hop Rap track you immediately get caught up in the momentum and flow behind the rhythm which is created through the Trap beats. The beat has the usual trickle and snare of the 808 beats, however there’s an almost haunting tone behind the synth-driven reverb on the track. Whilst the effects on the vocals were a tad to heavy for the sentimentality of the bars to resonate with me, there’s no denying that Wave is an anthemic hit of oceanic proportions. Also, anyone who has the balls to take the piss out of all of our horrific world leaders in his music video deserves mad respect. Watching Promiss El Fuego dance in a bathrobe in the street whilst wearing a Donald Trump mask is nothing short of genius.
