Since Meez x Iff’s latest track “Phone Me” dropped on May 2nd, the R&B Hip Hop single hasn’t failed to amass plenty of attention. Given the resonance behind the lyricism in the track, it is definitely no wonder why; Phone Me is one of those rare R&B tracks which doesn’t over romanticise modern relationships. There are plenty of tracks about getting high, and plenty of lovelorn tracks about failed relationships on the airwaves, but it is so rare for the two to come together in such a striking way.
The downtempo beats in the minimalist Hip Hop track set the perfect platform for Meez x Iff’s poised and reflective vocal style which makes it impossible not to get hooked into the narrative of Phone Me – it’s quite literally off the hook.
