Last Fantastic Nasty – Filthy Festival: Eccentrically Infectious Alt Rock

When a band’s music video in contrast to the sound leaves you utterly perplexed, it’s not the easiest job in the world to allude to the nature of the music. Last Fantastic Nasty (as you can expect from their name) are a highly experimental up and coming Alt Rock outfit who allow their soundscape to progress from sweet melodic rock to potently high-octane metal. The progressive nature in their latest single “Filthy Festival” is just one of the elements of the Chicago-based band’s sound which left me a little lost for words. The powerfully resonant vocals are the last thing you come to expect from the lead vocalist sporting Freddie Mercury facial hair. Yet, with the same allure of Mike Patton’s prodigally unapologetic approach to vocals there’s not a lot you wouldn’t forgive him and his vocal diversity and eccentricity for. It’s safe to say I won’t be forgetting about Last Fantastic Nasty any time soon.
