R&B is essentially centred around romantic expression. But it isn’t all too often that singles run through with the same evocative power as found in Justin Mercurio’s irresistibly smooth contemporary R&B Soul Pop single “Secrets”.
It takes the first few notes of the tonally-rich Indie R&B Pop arrangement for you to be captivated by Secrets. Most artists can only dream of offering such a level of concordance within their soundscapes.
There’s a real sense of raw candid expression in Secrets; a single which Justin Mercurio perceptibly didn’t hold back when penning the lyrics. The amount of visceral emotion found in the lyricism is only matched by the sticky-sweet R&B popping rhythm which creates cathartically comforting melodies.
It’s easy to see why we aren’t the only ones keen to make sure that Justin Mercurio is firmly planted on our radar.
