I’m calling it. Hundred by Juan da Gawd is officially the hottest Hip Hop track of the year so far. How he encapsulated such a euphoric sound of summer in his latest drop is beyond me. Whatever mood Juan’s new drop catches you in it’s guaranteed to move you. The Jazz instrumentals entwine with the rattling snare of the 808 beats to create a vibe that’s almost indescribable.
The lyrics to Hundred are as inspirational as they come as they resonate over the in the Hip Hop R&B soundscape which Juan da Gawd created to prove that he’s irrefutably one of the hottest acts on the scene today. With such a diverse array of textures in the multi-layered sound Hundred is a track you can easy get lost within and that’s without mentioning Jaun’s charismatic approach to the verses. Whilst the track may get a little lyrically repetitive in places, Hundred has moved me infinitely more than any other Hip Hop beat dropped in 2018.
