Jamskillet – Less Us: Tearing Up the Confines of Hip Hop

The moment I hit play on Jamskillet’s latest track Less Us, the instant resonance of Daughter’s track Youth hit me. The prelude to the track hooks you with a sweet melancholic grip that you can’t shake throughout Jamskillet’s hit Hip Hop Rap experimental debut Less Us. The track flows between the verses, mixing up the sound with the distorted samples of Youth around Jamskillet’s lit rhythmic vocal ability. A soundscape this fresh rarely comes from outside LA, I’m starting to think there’s something in the water which makes Californian Rap artists such as Jamskillet so fresh. There’s a resounding amount of raw honesty and humility to the lyrics to Less Us, as you’d expect from the pensive title, but what you probably won’t anticipate is the way the way the guitar will grip you through the riffs as Jamskillet tears up the confines of the Hip Hop genre.

I will always applaud artists that create something conceptual with their sound and Jamskillet pulled it out of the bag with Less Us which was first released 8th March 2018.

Less Us is now available to stream on Soundcloud
