“Down for the Weekend” is the upcoming single from breaking R&B Soul Pop artist Jai’o which is due for release on May 17th. Just in time for summer, the UK-based artist has cooked up a vibrant serving of accessibly smooth R&B which comes with a well-manicured finish, and a generous serving of soul. Yet, as much as I appreciated Down for the Weekend, it was hard to find any perceptible amount of distinction or authenticity behind the track. It’s evident that Jai’o has the ability to construct a solid track with plenty of hooks, atmosphere, and harmony – yet, I’d really love to hear a signature style stamped down with Jai’o’s future releases.
