Jacques Laine’s 2018 track Never Lost It may take a while to kick in, but when it does, the pure venom spat through the rhythmic Rap vocals is definitely worth the wait. The haunting aura of the beat sets the perfect tone for Laine to lay down his poetically on point lyrics that are undeniably what makes this track. I’m not too sure about the use of the grating female vocals that detract from his magnetic Rap flow that just serve to fill the space around his lyricism. In his earlier singles such as Finish Line which don’t utilise the backing vocals the Jay Z vibes are palpable. So, if I was doling out advice I’d recommend collaborating by a more resoundingly talented female vocalist to contrast against his own angsty poignant lyrics. Yet, no one can dispute that this beat is massive. If you’re looking for some Old School inspired Hip Hop I definitely wouldn’t give Jacques Laine’s latest single Never Lost It a miss.
