Up and coming Hip Hop artist Gucci Boy has recently released his latest drop “Save Yourself” and provided the best introduction to his pensively raw, atmospherically ominous Trap.
Even though Save Yourself gets pretty experimental with autotune in parts, the man Rap verses flow naturally and smoothly to allow the melancholy of the lyrics to resonate. There are plenty of breaking New Wave Trap artists out there today, yet Gucci Boy sets himself apart through his ability to retain the authority and command of 90’s Hip Hop at the same time as keeping the beat fresh and sitting right on the contemporary curve. Most importantly, it doesn’t sound like it is being versed by a teen in a temper fit.
