Gotchi – Headlights: Melodically Contemporary Hip Hop with Classic Old School Roots

Canadian Hip Hop artist Gotchi’s first album “Headlights, Vol 1” didn’t fail to attract plenty of attention when it was released in 2018. Now, we’re all sharing the hype for Vol 2 which is due to drop later this year.

If the contemporary Hip Hop scene leaves you lacking faith, Gotchi’s signature style may be enough to restore your faith in the genre. While many Hip Hop releases can only be seen as vanity projects, Gotchi uses his platform to express relatable sentiment which is always in tune by the timeless vibes of classic Hip Hop. Yet, Gotchi does so much more than just assimilate former sounds. He packs in plenty of wavy melodies which sweep along with the atmospheric layers of reverb. The title track “Headlights” is the perfect introduction to his smooth subtle style which is so easy to sink into its bordering on hypnotic.
