There are very few R&B Hip Hop artists with a voice as resounding as F E Y I, the 18-year old singer songwriter has one of the most visceral voices I’ve heard from an emerging artist in the genre. There’s something uniquely compelling about the way her stylised vocals project her empowering lyrics which are steeped in realism into the mic. The minimalistic Pop beat has been polished to absolute perfection; it sets the perfect tone for F E Y I to set down her empyreal vocals. You’d be hard pressed to find a flaw in THIS IS NOT A LOVE SONG, it possesses the rare quality of cathartically keeping your attention without demanding it. If F E Y I is making music this powerful at only 18, I can’t begin to imagine what she will be capable of in the future with her radio ready style.
