Burns – Axis: Taking it Back to Old School with Simple Sweet Hip Hop

Axis is an instantly accessible Hip Hop Rap track by the up and coming recording artist Burns. His short and sweet mix is just one of the tracks to feature on his mixtape ‘Rose’. After listening to just one track, Burns quickly became one of my favourite Hip Hop artists I’ve checked out this summer. His amiably charismatic lyrical style strayed away from the usual brash aggression of the genre whilst he still stamped down authority in his lucidly orchestrated mix. He replaced the usual grandiosity with passion and the results speak for themselves.

Burns’ mixes are pretty much the perfect soundscape to vibe out to, the rich notes of the track had none of the typical harsh tinny rattles which Trap artists feel compelled to create, instead he created a smooth, winding progression taking inspiration from Jazz Blues.

You can check out Burns’ latest single Axis for yourself by heading over to SoundCloud now along with the rest of his 11-track mix tape.
