Anthony DeRoss may have just produced the most poetic Pop single that I’ve ever heard, what’s even more impressive than that is the fact that he did it with his first ever single. The introduction to the track is sublime, a pensive piano keying before the gentle echo of a guitar. Each note takes viscerally piercing stab, which alongside the lyrics is just absolute insult to injury. The resonance between the harrowed lyrics and the succinctly composed beat is almost enough to draw a tear.
Everything about the track is pure perfection, through his sweet yet edgy vocal style he projects such pained poignance it cuts through you like a knife. The New York based artist has set the bar emerging Pop artists, finding an artist with as much passion as Anthony DeRoss exudes is like finding a needle in a haystack. I’d put my money on the fact that this is just the beginning for the emerging artist.
