Glenna Jane released the most cerebral indie pop hit of the summer with ‘Late Bloomer’

Indie rock got into the sheets of hook-filled bedroom pop with Glenna Jane’s latest single, Late Bloomer. With the high-octane energy of Paramore, the intimacy of Mitski and the absorbing gravitas of Phoebe Bridgers, Late Bloomer is set to take Glenna Jane’s career to stratospheric new heights.

Late Bloomer lyrically delivers a fatal shot to the kinds of fuckboys who use words as a means to an end instead of an expression of the truth to deliver visceral resonance to anyone who can relate to the line “I don’t like you as much when we talk, and you say you’re in love, I know you’re just lying to get inside me”.

And that is just the tip of the crucifying iceberg in Late Bloomer, which Glenna Jane used to embolden herself and her audience through vindicatingly honest candour. The poetically meta propensities of Late Bloomer made the single the most cerebral hit of the summer. We can’t wait to hear where the Brooklyn-based storyteller takes her sharp wit next as she continues to embody the complexity of identity, intimacy and attachment.

The Latebloomers – Mid Chameleon: Feverishly Fierce Indie Rock

It’s jangly, it’s chaotic, it’s feverish, and that’s just how The Latebloomer’s single “Mid Chameleon” snuck onto our radar. Even the staunchest fans of New Wave, Post Punk and Indie Rock would be hard pressed to find a single which pumps as much viscerally electrifying energy into the guitar progressions.

The stunning single is just one of the 6 tracks to feature on the US-based up and coming artist’s latest EP “Frames” while each track stands as a testament to their diversity to their expressively pioneering Alt Rock sound there is no better introduction to Mid Chameleon. Fans of bands such as the Smiths, Modest Mouse, the Kooks, and the Strokes are sure to be enamoured by the sticky-sweet vocals paired with the palpably charismatic edge to the Latebloomers.

Loome – Capricorn: Ambient Electro Pop Driven by Melodically Fluid Synth

https://soundcloud.com/loomeearth/capricorn

“Capricorn” is the debut release from up and coming Pop recording artist Loome. Pop may be one of the most popular genres you will see artists popping up from, yet from the first verse, you know that Loome is an artist who isn’t going to have trouble when it comes to climbing up the charts. The production quality of Capricorn certainly doesn’t give away the fact Loome is fresh from his inception with his first track.

Loome’s single which was released October 1st is an exemplary offering of ambience, yet there’s plenty of drive behind the synthesised melodies to allow the weight of the digital effects to hit you in a resonant way. The lyricism was kept fairly light, yet the emotivity behind the subtle and easily ingestible vocals made Capricorn one of the most sentimentally blinding single’s I’ve had the pleasure of checking out recently.

GRLD II Latest Release ‘Late Bloomer” Will Immediately Grab You

GRLD II is a musical project with an uplifting and edgy attitude. Their recent release, “Late Bloomer” immediately grabs a listener’s interest with its interesting vibes and experimental approach to hip-hop. With this unique song, GRLD II makes me think of rap collectives such as Odd Future or Death Grips, artists who also have a rather unconventional approach to hip-hop.

“Late Bloomer” is built upon some unique layers of music that have a very dynamic feel. At times, there would only be a lonely clap track sustaining everything, while in other occasions, there would be a powerful low end thump and some amazing layer of synths, making for a really special approach.

The vocal performances are really the star in this production, giving the song its distinctive edge and personality above all. One of the things I really enjoy about this particular tune is certainly the cool kalimba / thumb piano style samples, which add some quirky melodies to the beat.

Issara can make any house a ‘Home’ with the soul in her latest single

With all the grace and beguile of a chanteuse fused with a retro soul aesthetic, the up-and-coming singer-songwriter Issara can make any house a ‘Home’ with her latest single, which offers a sanctuary of sound for anyone in search of solace.

By lyrically painting a protagonist who tends to the universal yet unseen needs that we all silently crave, Issara burned bright in the consoling warmth of the vignette of unconditional affection, which spins a narrative with threads of deep-rooted connection and understanding.

Home is a homage to the concept that home transcends physical spaces, echoing Issara’s journey across continents, and encapsulating the essence that home is indeed where the heart resides.

The production is steeped in a lush retro aesthetic, where the luminous timbres of the organ interlace with Issara’s vocals to create an ambience that is both comforting and soul-stirring. The hues of gospel spilling from the arrangement are a nod to her American church roots, bringing forth a nostalgic yet timeless quality that grips the listener’s soul. This track is not just heard; it’s felt, ensuring that by the outro, one’s soul is thoroughly sated.

With an ability to blend soul, pop, rock, gospel, French yéyé, and Thai funk, Issara has created a sound that is as diverse as her heritage. The song is a promise of what is to come from her upcoming debut album ‘222’, set for release on the befitting date of February 22, 2024.

As a mother of two and a beacon for late bloomers in the arts, Issara’s voice transcends mere melody to become a vessel of inspiration, encouraging others to find their place of belonging, their ‘home’, in whatever form it may take.

Home was officially released on November 17; stream it on Spotify.

49 Burning Condors are arrestingly ablaze in their Southern Gothic album, Seventh Hymnal

49 Burning Condors released a strong contender for the album of the year with their latest tribally awakening release, Seventh Hymnal. Penned during lockdown, the 7-track release traverses some tender topics; with the sonorous amalgam of goth rock and occultist alchemy, it is as bewitching as it is emboldening.

It isn’t often I’m left speechless. But considering the very nature of Seventh Hymnal is to express what can never be portrayed through words alone, the arrested daze that 49 Burning Condors left me in speaks volumes of their ability to run with an powerful concept and take you along for the visceral ride until you’re subsequently soothed by the sonic vernacular.

The album opens on the swampy stripped-back bluesy single, Bayou, before Little Death delivers a haunting ode to frailty through baroque strings, sparse vocals and hypnotic percussion. Track 3, Willow Tree, lets the compassion pour through the gentle folkish melodicism before Red Drum Skin will make you want to lead a sacrificial lamb to slaughter. Track 5, Noonday, one of the previously released singles stands as a profound testament to the vocal soul from Kimber before the album concludes on the sorrowfully sublime title single, which is just as cinematic as Ramin Djawadi’s work on Westworld.

Here’s what 49 Burning Condors have to say about their latest release:

“Seventh Hymnal was written during the pandemic; a time of abounding uncertainty, where death loomed around every corner, and chaos lingered in our world, homes, and veins. Our songs are dripping with stories of grief, bodies floating down the river, men drowning to a siren’s song, and of the gods worshipped, who ultimately turned calamitous.

Seventh Hymnal is not only an outpouring of all the things we wanted to say but couldn’t express in regular words to those we loved and even to ourselves, but a benediction and examination of a woman’s role of power in the world of men.”

Seventh Hymnal will stream across all platforms from September 7th. Hear it on SoundCloud and Spotify.

Grind into motion: MJR and Davlo make it clear that they are stepping over the ‘Bullshit’

Swerving around bad news in the papers like skilled professionals, MJR and Davlo drop their excellent new single about avoiding undesirable mainstream thinking on ‘Bullshit‘.

Davlo is a quality British/Indian-based hip-hop/pop producer and songwriter, who is best known for working with various singers and rappers worldwide, in order to find his optimal sound for global domination. He joins forces on this top track with established South London, England/Dublin, Ireland-based emcee MJR, on this clever barrage of deep beats and witty punchlines, that pushes haters to foul trouble rather quickly in this game.

With a supremely likable flow, fully of witty lines about how some people like to bring their drama to you without permission, the fine production only magnifies this to a high level of enjoyment for hip-hop fans. The deluge of bounce here has you scoring three pointers all day with your eyes closed.

This is the true story of ignoring the doom-and-gloomers and the small-minded people who fill up your DM’s with nonsense, as you fly above all of that and just keep on grinding, as you know that this is the only way to stay focused and productive.

Bullshit‘ from UK emcee MJR and producer Davlo, is a marvelous portrayal of what life has been like lately, with so many groans instead of working hard like these two have. With a monumentally catchy flow and a sumptuously desirable beat, this is an easy-on-the ear music vaccine for our willing veins, to soak up greedily.

Some people will always try and bring you down no matter what, but as long as you have the right mindset and keep on shooting, you will always win.

Todd Morse – My Shoes: The Blues Rock Track to Shake the Cobwebs Off Your Soul

LA-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Todd Morse has recently released their debut 2019 album “Late Bloomer”. And after 20 years of homing in on his craft performing with of Juliette and the Licks and the Offspring you’re more than entitled to have plenty of expectation when you hit play on this album. But Todd Morse certainly doesn’t disappoint especially with their standout single “My Shoes”.

While each of the 13 tracks is swimming in infectiously uplifting energy wrapped up in well-matured talent, My Shoes possesses an ethereally arrestive propensity right from the prelude. You can sense the life seeping from the notes, and the high-octane passion which is potent enough to shake the cobwebs off your soul. As if that wasn’t enough, Todd Morse has also proven with his angularly absorbing riffs that if anyone is taking names for contemporary guitar heroes, he should definitely be counted.

Todd Morse has used his album to show that age is irrelevant when it comes to artistic expression; which I commonly argue using the National as an example, but my argument has never been stronger thanks to tracks such as My Shoes.

While Todd Morse has more than done his dues in the music industry with major artists, it would have been criminal if his album which uses influence from the likes of Rolling Stones, Tom Petty and the Clash were never recorded. His talent as a songwriter almost transcends his vibrant vocal dynamic and fretboard mastery.

You can check out Todd Morse’s track My Shoes for yourselves by heading over to Spotify now.
