Franklin Gotham – Keeping On: A Choral Americana Power Pop Masterpiece

https://franklingotham.bandcamp.com/track/keeping-on

With each new release from Franklin Gotham, they surpass the expectation which their preceding single set. Their new evocatively powerful single Keeping On feels so timely it is practically serendipitous.

The Virginia, US-based Americana Power Pop artist has a tendency to craft melodies which are sharp and succinct enough that you’ll feel them scratching away at your soul. Keeping On is definitely no exception. The harrow of the previous 6-months has evidently had a profound impact on Franklin Gotham’s equally as profound production style.

The dreamy melodicism in Keeping Melodicism is enough to disrupt your rhythmic pulses as the angular guitar licks explore the full tonal palette. Optimism rings in the shimmering highs of the guitar notes as much as it does in Franklin Gotham’s gentle, reassuring and downright stunning vocals. It’s hard not to feel a little emotional while listening to the tender compassion contained in this choral Power Pop masterpiece.

Franklin Gotham – We Were Dumb: Magnetically Mellifluous Indie Power Pop

https://franklingotham.bandcamp.com/track/we-were-dumb

Indie Power Pop artist Franklin Gotham has recently released yet another feat of timeless Acoustic Rock with their latest single “We Were Dumb”.

While their other recent releases such as Selling You a Lie left us zealously enamoured, the artist has proven that they’ve continued to sharpen their melodic hook crafting skills with We Were Dumb. If you’re looking for ostentatious frills and overcomplication, you won’t find any. Instead, Franklin Gotham keeps We Were Dumb simple, accessible, and infectiously magnetic by allowing the clean melodies and inviting vocals to lead the way through the track

With the emotional intensity of Tom Waits and the sunny vulnerability of artists such as Nada Surf, We Were Dumb encompasses Alt Indie Folk Rock in a way which may not be regarded as pioneering, but it’s irrefutably refreshing.

Franklin Gotham – Selling You A Lie: Americana-Infused Indie Pop

Lies for Sale by Franklin Gotham

Even though there was no question in my mind that I would be blown away by the work of Franklin Gotham’s new release after hearing his earlier single “Bulletproof Silhouette” his latest single “Selling You A Lie” stood as a testament to the evolution of his talent.

The lyrics to some tracks may be able to hook you into the melody, but with Selling You a Lie you’re in for a completely different aural experience. From the very first line you’re hooked into the story that is coming to life through his teasing lyrical style which almost makes you want to rush to the end of the track to see the lyrical resolution. I have no doubt that every time I listen to Selling You A Lie I will find a new reason to fall in love with the Indie Pop single; whether that’s for the jangly concordance of the Acoustic Rock progressions, the honeyed vocals or the humble accessibility of the sound.

You can be mesmerised by the Virginia-based artist’s Americana-infused soundscape by heading over to Bandcamp now.

Franklin Gotham – Bulletproof Silhouette: Melodically Rustic Americana

Bulletproof Silhouette by Franklin Gotham

Franklin Gotham is back with a fresher sound than ever. His latest single ‘Bulletproof Silhouette’ will have you hooked before the first verse even runs through. If it’s been a while since a new aural discovery made you smile, then Franklin Gotham’s amiable approach to Alternative Americana spliced with Power Pop is sure to do the trick.

As the track playfully meanders through the melodically angular ecstasy served up by the acoustic arrangements, it is further amplified by the digital effects, suggesting that Franklin Gotham may just be one of the most prodigal contenders in an otherwise static genre.

The Virginia based artist’s radio ready Indie Pop single comes to life through the sweetly narrative lyrics which are unflinching and as resonant as they come. We all know that heart-wrenching feeling of lusting after someone that’s just a little too cool for you. Yet no one has versed it rapturously as Franklin Gotham.

Drunk Valentine: The Intoxicatingly Alchemic Latest single from Franklin Gotham

It’s dreamy, it’s melodic, it’s feverishly sweet and it may very will be my new favourite Folk inspired single. Franklin Gotham is the aural child of three sensational artists with a gloriously archaic sentimentality. Their inventive experimentation of instruments and arrangements create a blissfully jangly and ethereal sentimentality in contrast to the lyrics which, lets be honest, they’re ironically sobering. The Johnny Marr influence to the sonically rhythmic guitar is more than palpable, pair that with the 80’s inspired Synth and the melodies are as tight as they come. The squeaky clean polish over the production of this track is just the cherry on the cake.

Their glorious style may not to be everyone’s taste, but when was the last time you heard a stellar track that played it safe? Incorporating elements of Americana, Folk Rock, Indie and Polished Pop, Drunk Valentine serves up a smorgasbord of contrasting yet complimentary sounds to create a sound that could only be described as prodigally progressive.

Head on over to SoundCloud to check out Franklin Gotham’s latest single Drunk Valentine now. Fans of Dropkick Murphy’s, Dresden Dolls, or Mumford and Sons are going to be in heaven with this track.

Franklin Gotham – Soldier On: Sweet Americana Tinged With Post-Punk Pathos

All We Have Is Now by Franklin Gotham

If you imagined Morrissey on happy pills, you might get a taste of how glorious Franklin Gotham’s new single Soldier On is. The three-piece band’s sweet Americana Acoustic Rock anthemic style doesn’t take long to win you over. Not with the ethereally light Johnny Marr-esque guitar strumming that keeps this track lifted along with the vocalists Alt Country style vocals. Indie Folk really doesn’t get sweeter than Soldier On. Usually, I find uplifting music rather abrasive and almost crass, yet, Soldier On is so raw and genuine, it’s almost certain to break the coldest of ice queens (and kings?) I’m not sure if it was intentional, but the opening riff is straight-up R.E.M. Losing My Religion, but I’ll forgive Franklin Gotham anyway for creating a masterpiece of a track.

Soldier On is the debut single from Franklin Gotham’s latest Alternative album All We Have is Now which was first released in December, 2017.
