Korfian’s Industrial Pop Lament ‘Apathy Star’ is a Folk Sermon for the Terminally Screen-Bound

There has been no shortage of aural expositions on the bleak reality of well… reality. But in Korfian’s Apathy Star, he digs deeper into the darkest recesses of our psyches with every tool at his disposal. The lyrics don’t attempt to dress up the ennui of becoming numb to tragedy – lines such as “I scroll through tragedy, I’m overexposed, I am a star of apathy,” refuse to sugar-coat how monochrome static now hums where serotonin should be. With the LP’s very title, Digital Brutalism, he eclipses where we have become as a society while channelling the aesthetics of dark isolation both sonically and visually in the official music video.

Religious iconography in the visuals collides with the darkwave, ambient industrial mechanical teeth of the track. There’s a sense of soul-drenched sermon in the way the music mourns the times that are consuming us, one depressing headline at a time. Korfian’s voice, drenched in haunting reverb, utters confessions like “connected online but inhumanely secluded,” and “do my actions matter when they are drowning in code,” pushing the existential weight even deeper.

Korfian is the moniker of Athens-based artist Spyros Psarras, a graphic designer who, since 2017, has evolved from raw experimentation into this pointed fusion of haunting vocals, introspective storytelling, and electronic textures. On Apathy Star, he engineers a narrative about apathy, identity, and searching for meaning in fractured digital realities. Everything about Apathy Star is a cerebrally thematic triumph; if record labels won’t be banging down his door, swathes of sapiosexuals will be lining up to devour the electronic pulse of his societally enforced nihilism.

Korfian overcomes his stifling doubts on the heavy new track ‘Sabotage’

After the intensity of his previous Cardinal-inspired single ‘White Smoke’, Korfian returns with his original aplomb-packed ambience that never ceases to stun even the most open-minded on his latest ear-rattler, ‘Sabotage‘.

Korfian is an Athens, Greece-based alternative artist and graphic designer, Spyros Psarras, who assembles that type of sound which is perfect for dramatic movies that need a compelling soundtrack.

”The project began in 2015 after a personal breakdown and got released in the form of a 4-track EP named Baroque in 2017. A year after, Baroque is followed by the 5-track Event Horizon led by Territorial, a signature Korfian anthem about possessiveness and obsession.” ~ Korfian

With a vocal ability that sets him far apart from his peers, Korfian is a magnificent artist that always makes songs that are away from any sort of cheesy fad and only seems to create that sizzling kind of firey melody you’ll find hard to forget.

‘Sabotage‘ from the multi-skilled Athens, Greece-based alternative artist Korfian, sends a shiver down our bodies as this is honest music at its most creative. This is the story about finding that belief that has been locked inside you so deep, you had to pull it out with all the muscle you could muster up all at once. He sounds composed, ready to strive higher than before and with this comprehensively inspired form, to send the world something to truly be excited by. Following The Pattern: Korfian returns with Catholic Church-inspired ‘White Smoke’

The unique Korfian is back with a hypnotizing new single all about the story of the Cardinal on a song that will have you thinking within on ‘White Smoke’.

Korfian is the music project of indie recording artist and graphic designer, Spyros Psarras who is based in Athens, Greece.

With influences such as Zola Jesus, Woodkid, Florence + The Machine, Ladytron and iamamiwhoami, you can feel his tense beat style of music, as you know you are witnessing an artist who makes music to satisfy his creative urges, not to be involved in any type of fad.

You feel his vocals wash over you, as he takes us through a lesson in history with his storytelling ability and knowledge about the subject. The lyrics open the door and lead you in, as the haunting melody flashes intensely into your eyes.

‘White Smoke’ from Korfian is the song that will have you in a gaze, as you think about your own beliefs and religion. This is a song that feels movie-like and will be in your mind for a while, as you try and take it all in.

Korfian – Handful of Dirt: Tribally Rhythmic Baroque Dark Pop

There was definitely no forgetting Korfian after the release of their mesmerising Dark Pop single “Territorial” last year. Naturally, we were all too excited that they’ve put their alchemically ominous talents to good use again with the release of their new album “Postfire”.

While each of the seven tracks on Postfire will leave you arrested by the artist’s distinctive additions to the airwaves, the best introduction to their sound is “Handful of Dirt”. With tribal drum rhythms and Korfian’s naturally magnetic vocals, the Electronic soundscape becomes more immersive with each evolution of sound in this truly progressive mix.

Any fans of the Editors are definitely going to want to put Korfian on their radar after the release of this stylistically hypnotic Baroque take on Dark Pop.

Korfian’s Latest Offering of Darkly Dubbed Lyrical Philosophy

Korfian’s latest single Territorial is one of those rare tracks that manage to perfectly balance doom-impounding beats with devastating introspective which leave you in a state of utter beguilement. Sometimes music is an artform, sometimes it’s pure philosophy and that’s exactly how Territorial unravels as you allow the heavy waves of digitally rendered resonance crash over you. The deep baritone vocals which verse the pensive lyrics are amongst the most captivating I’ve heard from this genre in a long time. As for the beat, well, that’s just an ingeniously progression composed of contrasting concordant symmetry; the reverb from the synth spills over the harsh kicks and snares from the hard hitting electronica beat for the ultimate pacifying effect.

The Athens based artist’s sound is by large incomparable to many contemporary artists yet, any fans of Chase & Status’ iconic album No More Idols, are going to be in absolute heaven with Korfian’s dark, twisted Dub heavy Electronica mix.
