Indie artist Haven has made their debut with the transfixingly hazy single “Somewhere Brighter”

Up and coming Indie artist Haven has demonstrated their powers of aural transfixion with their debut single “Somewhere Brighter”.

With the Jangle Pop guitar progressions, a Post-Punk tone creeping in through the basslines, and Haven’s instantly magnetic vocals, debut singles don’t come much more exciting than this.

Around the Pop sensibilities of the soundscape, there is also layers of soft Alt 90s Grunge sound combined with melodies which aren’t too dissimilar from bands as Blink 182. There may be a slightly Lo-Fi feel to Somewhere Brighter, but this only amplifies the emotivity in the seamlessly progressive single.

The single kicks off with soft vocals around hazy, sunny layers of reverb spilling from the guitars before building into a captivating feat of pioneering Indie which is all too tempting to play on repeat.

Haven – Take Me Away: Iridescently Hyped Pop

Haven’s single Take Me Away, is one of those rare tracks you listen to and it instantly hits you with familiarity, the accessible EDM Pop hit is set at the perfect tempo for you just to slip into. Every pitch sits at the perfect level to allow this iridescently hyped Pop track to resonate with you, as you get caught up with the beat and the viscerally powerful vocals at the same time – it makes for quite the aural experience.

Haven’s take on contemporary Pop music is pretty much as refreshing as it gets, there are no hints of fragility or nativity in her vocals, just pure, uplifting empowerment which bleeds through into the mic as the romantically inclined lyrics are versed. From the track progression you can expect deep, dubbed drops a plenty around the lush hooks which make this track so immediately amiable.

Haven – Escape: Pensively Euphoric Pop

Pop singer songwriter haven has just released her debut EP ‘Escape’, I wasn’t prepared for the connection that I would make with the sound. Haven’s contemporary blissful stylistic approach to her music won me over before the first verse was through. The title track from Haven’s EP has just set the bar for Pop artists everywhere. The sound is grounding yet at the same time uplifting, how she created that paradox in a track I’m not sure. But, I can guarantee you will feel every emotion which is pensively projected into the microphone from the emerging artist. After checking out Haven’s entire EP, it feels as though I’ve been on an emotional roller coaster. If more Pop artists were reminiscent of Haven, I have no doubt that the genre would gain infinitely more respect. There isn’t the slightest hint of plasticity to her ethereal sound.

You can check out Haven’s latest sensually soulful Pop hit Escape and the rest of her debut EP which was released on April 13th, 2018 on SoundCloud now or head on over to Haven’s website for more music & info.

If I don’t hear this track on the radio in the next few months I will have officially fallen out with mainstream music channels.

Project Vela has released their latest progressively powerful Alt Rock single “Watch You Leave”

There’s little room to wonder why so many people have jumped on the pioneering work of Colorado-based up and coming Alt Rock duo Project Vela.

If you haven’t already been introduced to their sound, their latest single “Watch You Leave” is the perfect introduction. The single kicks off with a contemporary yet cinematic Synth Pop prelude before introducing arrestive layers of stylistic Alt Rock complete with semi-orchestral swells.

Project Vela made the momentum of Watch You Leave constantly in flux, so you’ll get plenty of rhythmic reminders of just how immersive the soundscape is.  The instrumental melodicism and vocal harmonies switch to high-octane riffs in a chaotically concordant style which you definitely won’t be accustomed to.

Fans of Linkin Park, Bring Me the Horizon, Enter Shikari, and Incubus will all find plenty to love about Watch You Leave.

Shrt_Lyf – Sloppy Top: Aggressively Absorbing Alt Hip Hop

Up and coming Alt Rap artist Shrt_Lyf dropped their aggressively absorbing Trap single “Sloppy Top” on September 2nd.  If you haven’t already had the pleasure of revelling in Shrt_Lyf’s own organic brand of experimentalism, Sloppy Top is the perfect introduction.

Their dark and macabre style throws you right back to the days when there was plenty of people on the hype around the Insane Clown Posse. Yet, Shrt_Lyf’s sound is firmly rooted in the new wave of Hip Hop. There will be plenty of Billie Eilish comparisons made as the world wakes up to Shrt_Lyf’s charmingly fierce approach to Rap. But credit where credit is due. Shrt_Lyf is a pioneer through the way he seamlessly merged old school Rap with new wave to create an accessibly refreshing hit.

Up and coming R&B Hip Hop artist Camila Paiva may have plenty of competition on the LA underground music scene, but it’s no surprise that she’s having no trouble attracting plenty of hype around her genre-contorting sound.

HAWXX Release Yet Another Riotously Sublime Rock Single to the Airwaves with “You’re No God”

“You’re No God” is the third single to be released from the up and coming UK Rock powerhouse HAWXX who haven’t failed to make their mark on the Rock scene this year.

Expect plenty of scuzz, powerful riffs and equally as powerful vocals from Anna Papadimitriou. Flawless vocals aren’t a requirement in Rock, but when they’re as captivatingly unflinching as Anna’s it’s all but impossible not to be floored by the vocal dynamic which verses the lyrics with palpable conviction. HAWXX share similar energy to bands such as Babes in Toyland, but even ‘SLAYERRRRRR’ fans couldn’t turn their noses up at Hannah Staphnill’s guitar shredding.

The single has already been spun on BBC Introducing, it’s not often Heavy Rock tracks pique the interest of BBC DJs, so that should tell you all you need to know about what HAWXX are bringing to the airwaves. It’s fresh, it’s raw, and it deserves a spot on your playlists too.
