Space out with the rock-licked soul in Church Burglars’ kaleidoscope of psychedelic shoegaze, Fairy Tale Ending

If you take your rock classically cut with a twist of spacey psychedelia, explore the riff-carved cosmos in the standout single, Fairy Tale Ending, from Church Burglars’ debut album, Subconsciously Conscious.

With soaring riffs as strident as the licks orchestrated by Slash’s fair hands fused with the soul-lavished euphonic sensibilities of the Flaming Lips and Pink Floyd, Fairy Tale Ending is a prog-rock meditation on the highs and lows of diehard romanticism. The endlessly caressing vocal lines which have more in common with the Shoegaze pioneers than your average rock outfit draw you right into the gravity of the bitter-sweet release, which stands as a testament to the LA-based outfit’s determination to make real music for real people.

After the founding members met at Berklee College of Music in Boston shortly before the COVID pandemic, frontman Mike Foltz used the international live music breather to travel to LA to record the debut LP independently with the exception of a few lead guitar parts laid down by Alec Grugel. With the full line-up finalised, Church Burglars are making waves in the live circuit; grab any opportunity to see them in an intimate setting before you have to join legions of fans filing into arenas to witness the virtuosity of Foltz.

Fairy Tale Ending is available to stream on Spotify.

Hopelessly Listening to this Song on Repeat

Robert John Hanson’s song “Hopelessly Falling” is a breath-taking ballad that captures the essence of love and the emotional turmoil that comes with it. With an attractive acoustic guitar part, this song is an alt-folk tune that is reminiscent of a modernized Bob Dylan. Hanson’s soulful voice perfectly complements the melody, and his lyrics tug at the heartstrings.

Hanson’s background in music is evident in the way he skilfully blends different genres, as seen in his eclectic album, The Bitter Suite. His love for British music shines through in his songwriting, reflecting the influence of his favourite artists such as The Beatles, Bowie, Queen, Pink Floyd, and The Kinks.

Listening to “Hopelessly Falling” is an immersive experience that takes the listener on a journey of emotions. The lyrics are both poignant and relatable, and Hanson’s delivery is heartfelt and genuine. The song’s structure and dynamics add to its beauty, building up to a powerful crescendo that leaves a lasting impact on the listener.

Overall, Robert John Hanson’s “Hopelessly Falling” is a testament to his artistry and songwriting skills. His ability to craft a song that speaks to the human experience is truly remarkable. Fans of folk, pop, and rock will appreciate his unique sound and style, and this song is a must-listen for anyone who appreciates great music. Hanson’s album, The Bitter Suite, is a must-have for those who appreciate the depth and edge of love and loss, and the elusive search for a happy ending.

Matt Jacob has made his spacey psych-rock debut with ‘Chakra Song’.

NYC-hailing singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Matt Jacob has released his spacey psych-rock debut single, Chakra Song. Any fans of the Fall will want to take the cosmonautical trip the single invites you to embark.

Matt Jacob has performed throughout NYC alongside some seriously high-profile names, but perhaps most notably, he has performed in hospitals and taught music to girls in a Cambodian orphanage via Zoom; which goes some way in explaining why the soul on offer in the indulgently mellow single feels so sincere.

The meditatively cathartic single is an incredibly promising debut that will no doubt leave the artist on the radars of post-punk and psych-rock fans alike.

Chakra Song is now available to stream via Spotify.

One Man Electrical Band amped up the voltage with their politically-charged hard rock single ‘Sign of the Times’

One Man Electrical Band

One Man Electrical Band® (OMEB®) has been taking the Cincinnati music scene by storm since 2003 with his futuristic spin on classic hard rock. With his latest single ‘Sign of the Times’, he hooked up with rock royalty, Vinny Appice (drums) and Steve Stratton (bass) to create an eye-opening juggernaut of a single.

We all know those snobby rock musos, don’t we? The ones who will disagree with any rock made in the 21st-century, Sign of the Times puts those pretentiously-formed opinions to shame.

With an old school Sabbath touch to the vocals, layers of atmosphere akin to what you’d hear in a Ministry track and politically-charged awakening lyrics, Sign of the Times hits the spot in every way possible. One Man Electrical Band’s talent easily parallels the collaborative artist’s, given that Vinny Appice drummed for DIO and Sabbath, it’s no surprise that One Man Electrical Band has shared stages with Journey, Motley Crue and KISS.

On the basis of the guitar solo, Sign of the Times should probably come with an X-rating along with a 5-star rating.

The John Michie Collective – Nothing to Die For: Existentially Relatable Indie Psych Rock

There was no forgetting multi-instrumentalist, The John Michie Collective, after hearing their 2020 release, I’ll Write Your Constellation’. After the release of their latest single, Nothing to Die For, their psychotropic experimentalism is permanently etched in our freshly altered minds.

With a touch of 70s rock in the spacey dreamy alt-indie single, you get the same feeling of ascendence as when you hit play on Lou Reed’s most psychedelically sweet tracks.

The romantic-in-spite-of-nihilism touch to the vocals and lyricism acts like an emotional sucker punch. For the aurally sensitive out there, don’t be surprised if Nothing to Die For has a bruising impact. It perfectly captures the collective sense of futility which breathes throughout our locked-down society and illustrates that your outlook can be as sweet as the tones in this enrapturing relatable release.

Nothing to Die For is now available to stream via Spotify.

The John Michie Collective goes interstellar with their latest Alt Psych single ‘I’ll Write Your Constellation’

https://soundcloud.com/the-jmc-336238029/ill-write-your-constellation

The John Michie Collective has put a new twist on the already twisted Psych Rock genre with their latest single ‘I’ll Write Your Constellation’.

With classical strings cutting their way through the soundscape which contains transcendently experimental disco beats, angular guitar notes and the transfixing trickles of Neo-Classic keys, I’ll Write Your Constellation is as beguiling as Dark Psych gets.

Hints of Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Phobophobes and The Velvet Underground may be detectable, but the multi-instrumentalist will undoubtedly be appreciated by anyone looking for enlivening ingenuity rather than assimilation from new artists.

There’ll be plenty more to come from the UK-based artist in 2021, making room for The John Michie Collective on your radar will undoubtedly pay off.

Torn Away are set to make a serenely melodic debut with their album “As We Rise”

Torn Away

Sink into the succinct melodicism in Torn Away’s standout single ‘The Viscera Enigma’ which features on their debut album release ‘As We Rise’ and enjoy the tonally indulgent hooks and grooves orchestrated by the Flint, Michigan Alt Rock trailblazers.

Their tones offer finesse to a sound akin to the likes of Pink Floyd, Alice in Chains and Acid Bath. As their standout track runs through, it is almost as though the breezing and purposefully meandering notes leave an imprint on your psyche and compel you to delve into the progressive hit time after time.

Torn Away offer an incredible energy, I have no doubt that this isn’t the last we hear from them. Get them on your radar.

You’ll have to wait a little bit longer before you can check out As We Rise which will be released by Misanthropik Records. In the meantime, head over to the artist’s Facebook page and give them a follow on Bandcamp.

Covering a masterpiece, 8udDha bl0od release H3Y U;PinkFl0YD:17AgA

Among the many songs we’ve had the pleasure to discover from 8udDha bl0od, with different styles and genres employed even within the same track, I never would’ve guessed they’d revisit a masterpiece for their latest release H3Y U;PinkFl0YD:17AgA.

Resurfacing Hey You by Pink Floyd, 8udDha bl0od stun once again with a thoroughly composed cover of the song, and while they boldly (and successfully) stick to the original arrangement, the vocals and the guitar solo are reproduced by a keyboard sound that relies on a pitch bend to mimic the guitar.

Although 8udDha bl0od have already proven to be Pink Floyd-prone in some of their previous releases with their constant experimentation and psychedelic vibe, Hey You is way past the psych era. Thus, it’s a surprising choice to cover, but even if you are a Pink Floyd fanatic, you won’t be let down.

Alien Private Eye- No Call: Electronica at it’s finest

https://soundcloud.com/alienprivateeye/no-call

Experimental Electronica shines through in Alien Private Eye’s new single ‘’No Call’. It may not be to everyone’s taste but it’s for sure impressive and shows a lot of creativity.

This track takes Electronica to a whole new level, there is so much suspense as you listen, it’s mysterious, dark and even eerie in places. It’s one that you really feel yourself going on a journey through the evolution of sounds and the impact they have on a listener.

Most of the time with this specific style of music it’s either vocals and a mix of sound effects or just sound on its own. Well Alien Private Eye decided to combine the two together by adding this almost hypnotising rhythm as well as these mesmerising vocals that gives the track this dose of up-beat energy.

The melody compliments the vocals and the pitch and pace is so similar that nothing seems out of place, the use of sound effects fits with the vocal ranges perfectly. Be sure to check this one out!
