Mario Vayne – Electric: A High-Voltage Homage to 80s Rock

It may have been almost a year since we got hooked on Mario Vayne’s earworm, Baby, but there was no forgetting the rock virtuoso’s infectiously euphoric energy and charisma, which is just as visceral in his latest single, Electric.

After a tenderly melodic and choked-with-sunset-strip-atmospherics prelude, Electric riffs its way into a vibrant homage to the 80s, boldly asserting that the future of classic rock is charged with an exhilarating, new energy.

Following the success of his debut single which captivated over 200K Spotify listeners, ‘Electric’ is poised to ignite the airwaves in a similar vein. Vayne’s journey, from a shy child crafting songs at eleven to a dynamic frontman in the UK and Australia, culminates in this release. His hiatus during the grunge era only seems to have honed his craft, leading to this moment of resurgence.

‘Electric’ is a testament to Vayne’s belief in following his rock-licked heart. The track is a fusion of adrenalizing riffs and memorable hooks, all set against the backdrop of 80s iconography. Yet, it’s the sheer zeal and fervour that Vayne pours into his music that truly defines the song. The lyrics, more than just words, are mantras for living, weaving through the music and urging listeners to embrace a vibrant lust for life.

In an era where optimism can feel scarce, ‘Electric’ offers a potent reminder of rock’s unifying power. Mario Vayne’s name might have been synonymous with the rock legends of yesteryear had this track been released in their time. Today, it stands as a signal that the spirit of classic rock not only endures but evolves.

Electric was officially released on March 8th; stream the single on Spotify.

Cellist extraordinaire Brianna Tam is quite exquisite on her memorable new release Eris

With her 4th single from the upcoming album called I AM, Brianna Tam is at her brilliant barefoot best with a toe-curling single of hypnotic proportions on her scintillating release, Eris.

Brianna Tam is a one-woman electric/classical cellist/looper who writes and records from her portable home studio with her loyal tabby kitty cat, Mr Gnocchi.

With a love for travel and adventure, Brianna now ventures throughout the Southeast, sharing her electric cello set with a wide variety of venues.” ~ Brianna Tam sharing more in-depth detail about her genuine passions

Brimming with mystique and flowing rather sensationally into our transformed earlobes with a world class soundscape that is Game of Thrones-like, Brianna Tam is at her skillful best with a dynamic display for the ages. Technically superior and sending our hearts pounding beyond previous levels of comprehension to revive all of our curious senses.

Inspired by the Greek goddess who shares the same name, is an all cello epic composition that begins as a depiction of controlled chaos, and then gradually transforms into a ruthless illustration of overwhelming discord.” ~ Brianna Tam describing the vision for her latest single

Eris from the magnificent Greensboro, North Carolina-based electric/classical cellist/loop artist Brianna Tam is an outstanding anthem for those who love meaningful instrumental music. She builds up the tension which will cause your whole body to be lifted into her world, only for us to be jolted awake by a rising great.

This is a rather special experience that might change your entire perspective, as we are taken into a fascinating universe by a remarkable artist who hasn’t even touched her prime yet.

Don’t pull me out: Pilot Run take on the monsters in ‘Haunted Head’

Pilot Run are back with some of that old school heavy bass guitar riff excellence, via their new single ‘Haunted Head‘.

Three-piece Colchester, Essex-based indie alt-rock band Pilot Run, came back from the darkness, to fly up above the cheering crowds once again.

Bruce, Craig and Matt all knew each other from years of playing in different band together and after a few years apart, they fused together again like they had never left each other’s side. They play that electric heavy-in-you-face (but never too much) type of marauding music-that flows into your veins and pumps the the blood thick and chunky-like a kick-drum start to rev up that eager engine.

This is that true story of waking up each day to the dead and not wanting to get pulled out of bed, to the unnecessary madness going on outside. The world is a scary place and its better to stay hidden away for now, until things calm down a bit and its safe again.

With a grungy punk feel that only adds to the incredibly hard sound that knocks your head into place after hearing so much plastic music with no core lately, this is a wake-up call if there ever was one. An anthem to the lost who need to be found, this is a proper band that have the heart and soul of a hungry lion, who roars into action when needed to take on the scary monsters in the world.

Haunted Head‘ from Essex three-piece alt-rockers Pilot Run, is that quality music that you knew you needed as something was missing. They put a guitar stamp on your mind and this is one of the most exciting releases yet in 2021.

Hypnova release ‘Stranger Things’ – Featuring DR King

While the world of stringed instruments is expansive and can satisfy curiosities and cravings of many types, it’s highly regarded that one of the most expressive accessories since the invention of the pick itself: the slide. They can be glass, brass and a whole lot else in between. Despite how beloved the sound can be, it’s generally reserved for luaus and country ballads, with little else taking advantage of the unique and unmistakable sound. Stranger Things by Hypnova finds featured vocalist DR King enjoying an electric pop song that’s lead by none other than a sliding hook that’s bound to get people moving in a way that they’ve never done before.

Aside from the excellent hook, Hypnova managed to keep a great beat and finds time for finely-mixed piano parts that underscore DR King’s soulful performance.  This is a brief track that doesn’t need to spend time exploring or evolving. It knows what it is and it delivers what the people want. This not only provides an excellent addition to our pre-gaming needs, but gives us two great names to follow (if we aren’t already). There’s plenty to look forward to as far as sounds from Hypnova and performances by DR King. Maybe we’ll even see more collaboration in the future. Stranger Things have happened…
