JURAKHAN has made his dark electronic hip hop debut with his FLNCH EP.

Indo-Caribbean alt-rap artist JURAKHAN has dropped his debut EP, FLNCH, the opening track, MAAR, is instrumentally visceral, raw and heavy enough to merit Pendulum comparisons, but when it comes to the rough and ready rap bars, fans of old school hip hop will appreciate the domineering grit.

If you could imagine what it would sound like if Insane Clown Posse started producing cyberpunk hip hop, you’ll get a good idea of what is on offer when you delve into this darkly arresting release orchestrated by the composer, rapper, producer and instrumentalist.

JURAKHAN’s sound may be dark and aggressive, but as an artist, he creates music that speaks to others for unification, activism and understanding. We can’t wait to see how he’ll use his platform and evolve his sound in 2021 and in years to come.

JURAKHAN’s EP is now available to stream via Spotify.

Pick Patek has got us a problem with ‘GUAP’

Pick Patek

The second of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-native producer and performer Pick Patek’s collaborative singles with ProdOMG, ‘GUAP’ (Got U A Problem) shows off Patek’s more playful side with high-energy beats and a smooth, controlled lyrical flow. Lyrically, ‘GUAP’ is kicking back on haters, and defending Patek’s own lifestyle choices – it’s tongue-in-cheek, fun, and it kicks like a mule when it wants to, Patek’s delivery quickfire and machine-gun like, over subtle bass and beats. There’s elements of Kanye and Chance the Rapper in here, soft and subtle, but the track’s also got some serious bounce and groove and Patek has a sound of his own with those gentle nods to influences. It’s a cracker of a hip hop piece, and a definite for anyone who’s grown tired of having other people’s opinions forced upon them.

RYN SCOTT delivers white-knuckle rapid flows in their latest Hip Hop track ‘WHAT’S POPPIN’

Detroit-based trailblazer RYN SCOTT may not share the same acclaim as the likes of Eminem, Tech N9ne, Busta Rhymes, or Twista (yet), but one thing he does have in common with the aforementioned artists is their ability to wax lyrical.

Lock into RYN SCOTT’s rap bars in the remix of their fervent track, ‘WHAT’S POPPIN’, and you’re in for a white-knuckle ride as the relentlessly rapid bars roll through their witty ingenuity. With lines as heavy and poignant as ‘so many people wearing a mask over the ones they already have’ and the sheer volition projected into the production, hitting confirms that RYN SCOTT is one to watch.

Gangster Rap Meets Dark EDM Trap in Spark I aM’s Standout Single “Eurostep”

Spark I aM’s standout Rap track Eurostep finds the perfect balance between Gangster Hip Hop and Dark EDM Trap. Naturally, the versatility of the track amplifies the commercial potential. Yet, Eurostep, like all of Spark I aM’s tracks are all about the message and resonance.

The Harlem-based up and coming artist infuses the same passion he exudes for mentorship and community youth projects into his music to create inspiringly relatable mixes. All the talent in the world could never replace what artists like Spark I aM bring to the airwaves. Although, in Eurostep, you’ll find plenty of that too.

Their lyrical waxing style may share reminiscences with icons such as Busta Rhymes, but Eurostep is so much more than just an ode to urban nostalgia with the fresh and atmospheric beats and adrenalizing energy.

Producer and Rapper Curt McGurt releases “Tscon”: Hard hitting Hip-Hop – right up in your face!

It has to be done! There really is no way around it! Curt McGurt is a beloved mixture of Busta Rhymes and Akon with much, much more. His style of rap is jab, jab, punch and repeat! His lyric, deeply articulated and intriguing, and without missing a beat, makes his syncopation complex and flawless. His hook line, “This sh** came outta nowhere” is the only line that is questioned. No-one wakes up in the morning with chops like that. If you did, you would get dragged to church for the next deliverance service! No, Curt McGurt’s craft is seasoned, well honed, well researched and brilliantly delivered.

Like all talented philosophers and orators, McGurt carries you along effortlessly at breakneck speed, never glancing back. It sounds as though his engineer must have been in heaven because there is no evidence of cutting and splicing his vocal together. If that really was one take, it’s a masterpiece that you have to hear. This Gatsby knows how to throw a good party and I’m excited to see what comes next.

Get your note book out and pen to the ready. Listen to “Tscon” here at Spotify.
